I was born almost 24 years ago to an Irish father and a Russian mother, so needless to say I don't tan very well. When I go to the beach and lay out on the sand, I will go from off white directly to lobster red. I used to use tanning beds, but some of my birthmarks ended up changing form which scared me. Luckily for me they were not cancerous. Ever since my traumatic tanning bed experience I have been trying to find good tanning lotions. For the past 2 months I have been using Jergens gradual self-tanning lotion in medium to tan skin tones. I personally never purchase self tanners in light skin tones because I am trying to get about 3 to 5 shades darker then my natural skin tone.
The bottle says to use this product everyday as your daily body lotion and that after a few days you should see a difference in skin tone. It claims that after one week of use your skin tone should look tan.
I started off with my natural skin tone (for reference is MAC NC25) and used the product as directed. I used it everyday as my body moisturizer for 2 months. During that duration of time I did notice a bit of a difference in my skin tone but not as much as I was wanting. My skin only got as dark as NC 30 or 35. I was wanting to get my skin tone to about NC 40 or 42.
Over all, if you are wanting a less dramatic change in skin tone then this would be perfect! This product is extremely easy to use and it actually doesn't have that weird self-tanner smell. However, if you are like me and want to turn your pale twilight skin into a deep, dark vacation tan then I would pass.
Happy tanning,
JEN
